My name is Joanne Rost, allow me to introduce myself.

I developed my hat making skills at the Wombourne School of Millinery.
I work from a studio at home in a Georgian house in the centre of historical Melbourne, Derbyshire which provides me with much inspiration. I studied Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent and through that always enjoyed exploring aspects of costume and creating dynamic accessories and I now teach art and design part-time.

I create hats using felt, straw and sinamay ( the material traditionally associated with wedding hats) using a variety of trims and colours - particularly feathers, buttons, leather, denim and ribbon.

Hats can be very formal but I enjoy making every day hats using felt in the winter or straw in the summer.
